The Crime Prevention Through Education Foundation is a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization established in 2000 to provide volunteer crime prevention and pro-active law enforcement services to Charlottesville/Albemarle County and surrounding communities.

CPTEF consists of four separate Divisions designed to provide a variety of services to make our community a safer and better place in which to live. These all-volunteer Divisions (The Crime Prevention Academy, Community Services, Search and Rescue, and the Pipe and Drum Band) focus on free crime prevention education for the citizens of our community, providing complementary law enforcement officers for the Albemarle County Sheriff's Office, and addressing the needs of our youth to convince them not to become involved in illegal activities.

CPTEF is governed by a volunteer Division Board of Directors and a volunteer Advisory Board.
